The IRCC has updated its requirements for international students. Graduates from degree programs at Canadian colleges will not need to adhere to a field-of-study requirement to qualify for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). This stipulation was introduced in 2024 for Canadian colleges but not for universities and was part of the government’s initiative to implement stricter oversight of the international education sector.

“Graduates of college degree programs will no longer be required to meet the PGWP field of study requirement,” said Larissa Bezo, CEO of the Canadian Bureau for International Education.
