Study in Demark – Current update -No PSW

Denmark’s student visa rules have significantly changed since May 1, 2025, to reduce employment fraud. Students in non-state-approved programs will lose automatic work permits, job search stays, and family reunification rights.
Main Changes:
- Reduced Work Rights: Students in non-state-approved programs will no longer be eligible for limited work permits, 6-month job search stays, or the right to bring accompanying family members.
- Focus on State-Approved Programs: The new rules prioritize students enrolled in programs recognized by the Danish government.
- Continued Rights for Existing Permits: Students with existing residence permits in non-state-approved programs will retain their current rights if they apply for an extension from May 2, 2025.
- Financial Requirements: Students must demonstrate sufficient financial means, typically around DKK 6,397 per month, to support themselves.
- Language Proficiency: Language proficiency in English or Danish may be required.
- Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance coverage is essential.
- Work Hours: Students can work 20 hours per week during the academic term (September to May) and full-time during June, July, and August.
In summary, the changes aim to ensure that student visa programs are used primarily for educational purposes and to prevent potential misuse of employment opportunities, particularly in non-state-approved programs.
